The Parliamentary Committee will act as a liaison committee between leadership and backbenches. The PLP Standing Orders make clear that “For the purposes of the election of Backbench members of the Parliamentary Committee… all members of the PLP shall be entitled to vote or to be a candidate… other than those holding [Shadow] Ministerial Office or Office as a Whip.”
With this ballot at least two votes must be cast for both women and men. As with other ballots the deadline for nominations is next Monday (25 October) at 5pm. The deadline for agreeing proxy votes in 7pm on the same day.
